A Framework for Evaluation

Until this point as a teacher, I haven’t realize how important was planning a framework before and through the process of teaching a course. When I was reading this I remembered what I do with my English course and I compare it with what the authors say that is here, right down:

 I realized that sometimes we do some of the things by inertia, not as well as they must have done, but still that we do it. May be at this point we make mistakes because we are beginners, even though, we are hoping to learn more thought the process and make a better job.

 Here there are some things we can do in order to assess our courses from the beginning to end of it.

•          Determine students’ needs and abilities.
•          Examine students’ progress in a regularly.
•          Provide occasions for informing students learning process
•          Monitor classroom activities.
•          Monitoring the effectiveness of instructions in order to plan on going instructions.
•         Monitoring if students understand what they were taught.
•          Monitoring students understanding of content.
•          Determine students’ needs and abilities.
•          Examine students’ progress in a regularly.
•          Provide occasions for informing students learning process
•          Monitor classroom activities.

Remember that the key of this is to make changes in the course, when it’s necessary, with the only purpose to help students to get better results at the end of their courses. 

Assessing Writing

I think writing is a very important skill because learners can use grammar and vocabulary in it, also they can show how good they are using them. Similarly, it is important to mention that writing is a skill than will enrich student’s knowledge as well as grammatical structures.

The challenge with it is that the majority of the students have problems writing in their mother tongue, so as it is inferred students at the beginning would have many problems. The thing here is to be persistent.

So, now in terms of assessment I think washback is very useful because it allows the students to rewrite what they did and realize the mistakes they are making in order to do a better job and improve their speaking skills.

The importance of the combination of the four skills for assessing listening

Sometimes we, as teachers, just care about the students performance in an specific skill, but not take into account that the performance of the four skills are very important in order to assess a competence. So, what happens with listening is that every so often teachers just focus on the performance of it but not in the whole competence of their students.

Another thing is that as I said before teachers frequently prepared test to evaluate each skill separately and they trust in the result they got. The thing is that each test cannot give professors the security that the students learn everything correctly. So, what we have to in order to assess the competence in to triangulate the results of the tests.

In addition to that Brown (2000), suggest some ways in which teachers can assess speaking as a whole and gives us some tasks:

·         Note-taking (listening-writing)

·         Editing(listening-writing)

·         Interpretative tasks(listening-speaking)

·         Retelling (listening-speaking)

As a conclusion, what is important in assessing listening is to take it into account as a whole, not just as a performance. And also as teachers we have the obligation to design a test that guarantees the students that all their process will be seen as a competence and not just as an evaluated skill.

Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS): una de las mejores universidades públicas del país

La universidad industrial de Santander abrió sus puertas hace 62 años, hoy en día es una institución con buen nivel académico y excelente planta física.
En la entrada principal de la UIS, ubicada en la carrera 27 se puede apreciar una gran valla hecha de concreto color verde y blanco situada en la parte superior de la puerta de ingreso que dice: UIS.

Después cuando se traspasa el portón se puede apreciar el monumento llamado"lección de geometría", donado hace unos años a la universidad,

mas adelante al lado izquierdo se encuentra el edificio de ciencias humanas (CH),

en la posición opuesta se ubica el imponente auditorio Luis A. Calvo, el único en Bucaramanga, y para el orgullo de la comunidad universitaria se halla en la UIS.
Justo en frente del auditorio se halla la plaza CHE nombrada así en honor al Che Guevara, un lugar emblemático para todos los estudiantes de la universidad, allí se han realizado importantes asambleas y reuniones, donde se discuten temas que le competen al estudiantado y a la universidad.
Cien metros más adelante al sector izquierdo se ubica la biblioteca de la UIS,
Por la parte de encima de la bilbioteca, verán unas piscinas naturales donde habitan tortugas, peces y babillas.

Unos cuantos pasos más abajo de la biblioteca hallarán el Centic,un edificio dotado de computadores para uso del estudiantado.
Justo en frente del Centic esta el edificio camilo torres donde encontramos carreras como ingeniería civil, sistemas, eléctrica y licenciatura en matemáticas.

Al devolvernos y continuar por el camino principal veremos la gallera,un auditorio pequeño sin techo rodeado de gradas donde la gente se reúne a descansar y escuchar chistes los fines de semana;

si se mira hacia el frente hallarán el edificio de bienestar universitario, al lado derecho de ese
edificio está la casona la perla.
Continuando con el paseo se encontrarán con el edificio de ingeniería eléctrica, en la parte trasera del este está el bosque, sitio utilizado para diferentes actividades, entre ellas dormir fumar y estudiar.
Al terminar de darle la vuelta a la universidad observarán el edificio Federico Mamitza Mayer donde se hallan las carreras de de ingeniería mecánica, metalúrgica, química, petróleos, etc.

Después se hallarán la entrada de la carrera 24 y al costado izquierdo las instalaciones del colegio Santander. Al subir ese sendero de nuevo llegarán a la entrada principal de la UIS.
Pero el recorrido aún no ha terminado.
De nuevo se ubicarán en la puerta de la carrera 27 y automáticamente girarán y subirán por el camino que hay a la derecha, si se da toda la vuelta verán la cancha de ladrillo,
el coliseo,
en frente de este veremos las residencias estudiantiles

y la cancha de grama,


más hacia el fondo las canchas de baloncesto,
hacia arriba la cancha de beisbol,

más abajo la de Tennis,

todas en perfecto estado.
La UIS también dispone de amplios parqueaderos en todas las entradas, para la comodidad de estudiantes profesores y demás.


Por su ubicación, estructura, espacios libres y nivel académico, la UIS es una de las mejores universidades públicas de Colombia.

Mis Zapatos

Este Zapato es una bota, amplia en su parte inferior y más angosta en su parte superior.
Son de color blanco como la nieve pero con el tiempo pasó de ser veis como las pirámides egipcias. También en el exterior tiene estampada una rueda con una estrella en la mitad rodeada por un par de palabras que dicen: "Coverse All Star by Chuck Taylor".
La parte superior del zapato consta de 8 aberturas a cada lado; en total 16; por estos pequeños agujeros pasan los cordones, en medio de los cordones, por supuesto, pasa la lengua del zapato.
La suela tiene dos líneas: una roja que rodea todo el zapato y azul que solo cubre parte de él.
La parte trasera de los zapatos tiene una placa de plástico pegada que dice All Star, así bien la parte delantera del zapato está hecha de goma.
La parte exterior de la suela no está desgastada; en ella vienen detalles tan importantes, como la talla y de nuevo la marca.
Para finalizar el interior de la suela es muy cómodo, pareciera que los zapatos tuvieran un interior de felpa.
